Aardonderzoek vanuit de ruimte

Om inzicht te krijgen op de chemische samenstelling van de atmosfeer hebben de Nederlands en Duitse overheden samen met de Europese Ruimtevaartorganisatie (EAS) besloten een spectrometer te laten ontwikkelen die op de milieusatelliet Envisat zal gaan vliegen. Dit instrument heet Sciamachy (Scanning Imaging Absorbtion Spectrometer, for Atmospheric Carthography) en komt tot stand via een Nederlandse-Duits industrieel consortium. Het door TNO-TPD ontwikkelde optische en opto-mechanisch hart van dit instrument wordt hierbij beschreven.
