Beter dan de primaire standaard?

Kalibratie-instrumenten voor flowmeters bevatten een kwikring-afdichting. Fabrikant van flowmeters Bronkhorst High-Tech vroeg mechatronisch ontwerpbureau Demcon een kwikloos instrument te ontwikkelen. Het resultaat is de Active Piston Prover (APP), waarvoor Demcon de ‘proof of principle’ leverde. Daartoe ontwikkelde het een actief meetprincipe en toonde met berekeningen aan dat de gevraagde meetonzekerheden haalbaar zouden zijn. Bij eerste testen door het Nederlands Meetinstituut bleek dat de APP een goede kandidaat is voor een nieuwe primaire standaard.
