Keramische precisiekogels hebben zeer specifieke eigenschappen. Vooral de hoge druksterkte, goede chemische bestendigheid, hoge hardheid, en de lage wrijvingscoefficient zijn kenmerkend. Bovendien zijn zeer nauwkeurige toleranties haalbaar (tot +- 0,08 micron op de diameter). Keramische precisiekogels worden zowel in de gangbare standaardproducten (tasters, kogellagers, heupkogels) als in speciale producten toegepast (lageringen in vacuum, micro-doseerklepjes en afsluiters).
