Lichtverstrooiing door kleine deeltjes: een experimentele opstelling

Lichtverstrooiing is een verschijnsel waar iedereen dagelijks mee geconfronteerd wordt. Om een paar voorbeelden betreffende onze atmosfeer te noemen, de blauwe lucht, regenbogen, halo’s en bijzonnen. De groep Sterrenkunde houdt zich vooral bezig met lichtverstrooiing in planeetatmosferen. Daarom willen we de lichtverstrooiing meten van allerlei deeltjes die zowel in onze atmosfeer als in die van andere planeten voorkomen. Een stof die veel op onze planeet voorkomt is SiO2, en onze eerste metingen zijn daarom gedaan aan dit soort deeltjes.
