Magneetlagering

De bouw van de eerste actieve magneetlageropstelling viel samen met de oprichting van het NVPT, zo’n 50 jaar geleden. Hoewel het idee daarvoor al een eeuw oud was, werd praktische realisatie pas mogelijk dankzij de ontwikkeling van vermogenselektronica en regeltechniek na de tweede wereldoorlog. Magneetlagering is een vorm van mechatronisch ontwerpen bij uitstek (zie kader AMB). Bij moderne integrale ontwerpen als het sensorloos magneetlager en de lagerloze motor komt dit nog duidelijker naar voren.
