De assemblage van hybride microproducten is duur en complex. De uitval is groot, omdat de onderdelen uiterst fragiel zijn. Onderzoekers van de TU/e en TNO Industrie & Techniek toonden aan dat de opbrengst 10 keer zo hoog kan worden, als zo’n microproduct wordt ontworpen met assemblagegemak in gedachten. Dat deden zij aan de hand van een herontwerp van een 3D-meettaster, die TU/e spin-off Xpress Precision Engineering op de markt brengt.
