Spectrometers voor de Thomsonverstrooiingsdiagnostiek van plasma’s

In de plasmafysica bestudeert men de materie in de plasmatoestand. Dit is de situatie waarin de atom geheel of gedeeltelijk geioniseerd zijn, zodat het gedrag van de stof sterk bepaald wordt door de aanwezigheid van vrije ladingen. Door de aanwezigheid van geladen deeltjes in het plasma is een grote verscheidenheid van interakties met straling mogelijk. Een van deze optische diagnostieken, waarbij gebruik gemaakt wordt van Thomsonverstrooiing wordt in het volgende nader beschreven.
