Ultrakorte optische pulsen

Om verschillende dynamische processen te kunnen scheiden, is het waardevol om ook op korte tijdsschaal tijdsafhankelijke experimenten te doen. Met name de niet-lineaire respons van systemen maakt het mogelijk om de verschillende dynamische bijdragen te scheiden. In dit verhaal komen tijddomein optische technieken aan de orde met een resolutie van ca. 1e-14 seconde. Voor ons is deze resolutie nodig o.a. om fluktuaties te bestuderen die plaatsvinden in elektronische toestanden van molekulen in de vloeistoffase.
